patchwork quilt <3

I spent a good portion of my day off yesterday watching movies and sewing a quilt. I've never made one before and it wasnt overly difficult to make (of course its not too intricate either). I rolled around the idea of giving it to someone for Christmas, but I don't think I can part with it. I will have to make more. I didn't follow any rules or instructions and some of the measurements could use some work, but other than that I have been converted to full on quilt-making love.

neiman marcus cookies

I decided to make the neiman marcus cookies for tomorrows thanksgiving potluck at work. I have a feeling that there will be more desserts than "real food", but ah well. These are really good and make more cookies than you will ever need. Sometimes I wonder why they never look like the ones in the store. hmm
anyhow... don't you love the 70's recipe card and tupperware theme? I thank my mom for both.

Last weekend I went out to all of the 99 cent stores on 5th Ave. There are tons of them and I only ended up at 5 or 6 before I had to stop. I picked up some shelving paper (contact paper-yes, i know) that was fashioned to look like wood grain. I have some left over that will probably end up in a future project, but the bulk of it went here:

It's early and I'm groggy, but I'm headed to union square to sell some art work. I've got one small wooden table, one foldable chair, 3 large paintings, 4 small paintings, buisness cards and josh. Wish me luck!

nyc marathon

This week has been a little hectic. I have temped at four different companies since this past Monday. It’s not bad though, they pay well and they have been relatively interesting.
I’m trying to get my projects organized so that I can continue blogging and doing other things even though my work life is a little crazy at the moment.
I am currently working on a set of 6 paintings with a circular theme to sell in union square this coming weekend. I did a little research and found out that you are not required to have a vendors license in nyc if you are selling artwork, books, or photography because it is considered free speech. Even if I wanted a vendor’s license I wouldn’t be able get one because of a million mile long waiting list. Come see me if you’re in the area and check out my artwork.
Also, in union square this week I will be meeting some ladies from craftster at Starbucks on Tuesday at 7pm and it is an open invitation. I’m excited to meet new people and hang out with other creative ladies.
Tuesday is Election Day and I hope you all get out and vote against the axis of evil.
The nyc marathon went down our street this morning. It was really touching and inspirational to see that many people together.
