Q: Anything you want to add about yourself. School, jobs, goals, your past, or whatever you feel like sharing.
I'm a small business owner in Southern Ohio. My brother and I own a TCBY and are in the process of selling out. Owning a restaurant has made me realize that I need art in my life! (You can only scoop frozen yogurt for so long). So... I'm going to school for Visual Arts and photography. I've wanted to be an artist since I was 5 years old so i'm heading in the right direction
Q: What type of camera (s) do you use?
Nikon N-60- I'm currently experimenting with a holga (a medium format camera) I'll let you know how it goes!

Q: Do you use any special techniques when taking photographs?
Point and shoot! It's all about trial and error.
Q: Who/what inspires your art?
A lot of my ideas come from my outlook on life. I've kept a journal for over 5 years, so a lot of my thoughts tend to come out on paper, in one way or another. I enjoy coming up with ideas that express some of my personal/moral views. I tend to be drawn to things that are rich in history; I love old buildings, and objects that show how time has consumed them. I also have a serious appreciation for ironic humor.
Q: Do you have a creative process?
I try as much as I can to think outside of the box. I push myself to look at things from different perspectives.
Q: Where do you find subject matter?
I like to shoot mundane objects and try to show their simplistic beauty; Beauty that would otherwise go unnoticed. Every once in a while I'll set up a still life to get my point across.

Q: How long have you been interested in photography?
About 5 years.
Q: What got you interested?
Being in nature. I found myself taking 'photography adventures' on a regular basis. Over the years I've developed a love for it.
Q: Which is your favorite photograph?
Either the photograph of the rusty henge, or the woman pulling the pan out of the oven. The last picture mentioned, I did for a project called 'American Woman'. I wanted to show how the media's idea of a woman is someone who cooks, cleans, and looks hot all the while, (while wearing a huge diamond ring haha) I enjoyed the humor in that project.

Q: What other types of art are you interested in?
I love collage work. Any type of mixed media is interesting to me. Sketching has always been a favorite, especially portraiture.
Q: Favorite photographer?
Richard Avedon

Q: Favorite food, tv shows, movies , book, magazines, and music?
I love Manicotti!!! and Spinach!
I actually don't watch tv and don't generally have the attention span for movies! haha
I really love any book written by SARK: Succulent Wild Woman, Bodacious Book of Succulence, they're all great! I like to read anything about reincarnation.. or past life regression
Music! Simon and Garfunkel, The Cranberries, Portishead, Johnny Cash, Bruce Hornsby, Smashing Pumpkins, Lisa Loeb, Bob Dylan, Amos Lee, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, I love the 60's era. But honestly, I love it all.
